AIME 2010 pays dividends report show exhibitors

Wednesday 3 March 2010

On day two of the 18th Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME), positive reports are flowing in from the exhibition floor at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre with hosted buyers, exhibitors and visitors reporting a buoyant outlook and promising expectations for business.

Around 800 exhibitor stands cover over 13,500 square metres of floor space, with 195 new exhibitors representing a greater diversity of companies, products and services at this year’s show attended by more than 500 hosted buyers.

“The mood is more upbeat this year with a lot of genuine MICE enquiries - the mix of buyers is more balanced between domestic and international,” said Ganessan Suppiah from World Hotels.

Sharnee Beerd from Dreamweavers says: “So far we have enjoyed our AIME experience. This is our first time exhibiting at AIME and we are very impressed by the quality of people we have spoken to. Qualified businesses who are here at the event to seek new event ideas. Our investment I’m sure will pay big dividends.”

Christine McLean from the Perth Convention Bureau says of AIME: “Overwhelmingly positive - with our bigger [stand] presence and quality meetings.”

Verena Olesch from Foster’s Group says: “Great first morning, I could go home now – very busy.”

Consuelo Jones from Philippine Department of Tourism says: “It’s been a very good first day at AIME. All the co-exhibitors have found it worthwhile so far, in particular the quality of buyers.

Delta Air representative Brett Jowett said: “First day, first time – I’m excited. Great contacts – excellent!”

Among the largest stands at AIME 2010 are Melbourne Convention & Visitors  Bureau, Business Events Sydney,  Hong Kong Tourism Board, Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce & Marketing (DTCM), Thailand Convention Exhibition Bureau.

New exhibitors this year include Lufthansa German Airlines, Delta Airlines, Seoul Tourism Organisation, Visit London, and The Leading Hotels of the World just to name a few.
