IHG appoints hotel general manager

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed a new hotel general manager for Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach, Kate Gerits.

Effective today, Kate will oversee the hotel’s operations, reporting to Bill Edwards.

Kate replaces Leeanne Graham who will relocate to Perth and continue working with IHG on a project basis.

Kate commenced her career in hotel operations in 1995 at Holiday Inn Old Sydney as a receptionist before being accepted into the Corporate Traineeship Program. Since then, she has worked across various properties including Landmark Parkroyal Sydney, Holiday Inn Brisbane, Crowne Plaza Newcastle, and Holiday Inn Darwin.

Most recently Kate was the hotel manager of Holiday Inn Darwin – a role she held for over two years.

Kate is also the current brand advocate for Holiday Inn Australasia, and is well-recognised internally as driving IHG’s successful Priority Club Rewards Recognition (PCR) program.

Kate has a Bachelor in Business Tourism Management from Charles Sturt University and an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management from Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.

Kate was also awarded a U21 Global Scholarship for Women in Tourism and Travel in 2009 – a prestigious scholarship awarded to just 20 women in the travel and tourism industry in Asia-Pacific.

Kate will live in the eastern suburbs ofSydneywith her husband and two young children.
