Vie Fete – the Vie one year anniversary celebration

A Carnival themed event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Vie Media and the launch of Vie Magazine. The goal is for the guests to have a living experience of the magazine for an unforgettable night filled with fun and excitement; and at the same time promote the magazines further to the public.

The acquisition of the venue was a challenge all on it’s own, with a vision to transform the busy open plaza for the exclusive display of the Vie logo and acquiring approval from Centre Management to use the retail shop for private function. The events team literally had two weeks to prepare and execute the event once approval was granted, to transform an ordinary retail space into an interesting carnival space.

The event, coordinated by events management team in Vie! Marketing Management kicked off at noon in the Upper Ground Floor open plaza of World Square. The gigantic vie logo cut-out on synthetic grass alongside with a MINI vie mobile caught wide attention of passersby during the day. Past issues of vie magazine and sister magazine vielite were handed out by models What’s more, dozens and wozens of business cards were collected for prize draw for a MINI weekend drive-away.

At dusk, the vie team got ready for more merrymakings. Doors were open to the private function area at 6.30pm and guests slowly filled up the space. People who showed up at the party were associated with the magazine in one way or another.

The excitement of “Living a live experience of the magazine” was to reunite everyone who had been part of this big family all under one roof for a night. These include Nahji Chu from misschu (Vie’s food editor), clients, advertisers, partners, business owners, representatives from PR and marketing companies, editors, contributors, and friends. The special night sent smiles and greetings across the room where guests mingled, chatting the night away.

Sponsors played an important role in the event to make it all happen. They are:  the World Square Shopping Centre – who provided the amazing space for the occasion and the exposed centre court during the day; Opera Kitchen located at lower concourse of Sydney Opera House- serving premium canapés and dessert by Kenji, misschu, Cloudy Bay Fish Co, Charlie & Co. Burgers and Bécasse Bakery; Hennessy Australia- serving more than 190 glasses of VSOP mixed cocktails; Handpicked – sponsoring Moscatos for dessert; Kippo Hair – for styling some crazy daisy hairstyles for the vie team; Japan City – for their products in the showbags and raffle draw; and last but not least, Canterbury MINI Garage – for a weekend drive away in a MINI Cooper!

Hosted by MC, Marissa, it was more than just a festive get-together. Michael dj-ing behind the “cage” sent a few guests shuffling on their feet with his groovy beats while the others enjoyed macarons by Adriano Zumbo. All eyes were on his newest creation – the Chocolate Charcoal Chicken!!!

Special guest performer, Juliet Pang, behind her ukulele started the performance with her very own composition “The Perfect Journey” which befittingly depicted the sole reason of the celebration. She went on to perform a few other numbers from her latest album. Juliet Pang was also nominated for Best Local Singer – Freshmusic Awards by Freshmusic, a well-circulated Indie Music review group on the Internet.

Vie also heartily welcomed back Assunta Yan, returning from her charity works with “Hand in Hand Nepal 2011” organized by Habitat for Humanity Australia. The charitable affair was aired recently on Australian TV Network. The event saw 100 women teaming up and venturing into Nepal to help Nepalese women and their families build homes alongside with local workers. Vie fete also ran a raffle prize draw to help raise funds for the organization. Prizes were drawn at the end of the night and sent many happy faces home with handful of prizes, tummies full of gorgeous food and fine beverages and a night to cherish for a long, long time.
